Spanish born, London based, Maria de la Iglesia has been a freelance creative since 2005. She started her career in Photography in Dublin, Ireland, where she moved in 2001 after studying a BA and MA in Business in Madrid, her home city. She redirected herself there and studied a 4 years BA (Hons) in Photography by the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) while starting to freelance as a photographer. After graduating, she moved back to Madrid, where she worked for almost 2 years as a photographers assistant, gaining a real insight into the world of high end photography. Maria moved to London in 2009 to study an MA in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography at the London College of Communication. She has remained in London ever since, living in Hackney and working as a freelance photographer and editor, creating her own personal work, collaborating with many different photographic adventurers and combining it all with motherhood.
Maria loves dark humour style photography, enjoys critical photographic debates that normally end up nowhere, looking endlessly at images, collecting photography books and healthy eating, her other ‘obsession’.
